PROFILE

Jax Harms is a trans vocalist, songwriter, guitarist and arranger working across folk, roots and americana traditions. His work draws on the storytelling lineage of those genres, exploring voice as a space where identity, memory and inheritance meet. Alongside his performance work, Jax writes collaboratively across genres, bringing a lyric-led approach shaped by folk traditions and ensemble practice.

Jax is a member of Trans Voices, the UK’s first professional trans+ vocal collective, and also performs with London Contemporary Voices.

WRITING & CREATIVE WORK

Jax is a songwriter and collaborative writer working across folk, roots, americana, country, pop and alternative music, bringing a lyric-led approach alongside strong harmonic and structural instincts.

Selected writing work includes:

• Transpose Songwriting Camp (2026) – selected as a songwriter for the Brighton-based camp produced by Song Teller in partnership with The Great Escape, Spotify, The Ivors Academy and ICMP.

• Jo Hill – co-wrote music and lyrics for original material developed at Transpose, contributing chord progression, song structure, guitar and backing vocals.

• Electric Marmalade x 2% Rising Songwriting Camp – collaborative writing across pop, alternative and electronic contexts.

• ILĀ & Catrin Vincent – co-writing collaboration on original unreleased material.

Alongside collaborative work, Jax maintains an ongoing solo writing practice rooted in folk, roots and americana traditions, with a focus on lyrical storytelling, harmony and voice-led composition.

Jax works across live and studio environments spanning folk, americana, pop, electronic and experimental music.

Live collaborations include:

  • Alanis Morissette – ensemble vocals on “Rest” at Crystal Palace Park (2026), performing to an audience of 20,000.
  • Imogen Heap – backing vocals at Transmission (OVO Arena Wembley, 2026) and the Roundhouse (2026).
  • Olly Alexander – backing vocals at Transmission (OVO Arena Wembley, 2026).
  • Hot Chip – backing vocals at Together for Palestine (OVO Arena Wembley, 2025), curated by Brian Eno.
  • Kesha – backing vocals at Mighty Hoopla (2025).
  • Holly Herndon & Mat Dryhurst – ensemble vocal performance exploring AI-human collaboration.
  • BISHI – interdisciplinary live performance work.
  • Karima Francis – live support vocals.
  • Trans Voices – vocalist with the UK’s first professional trans+ vocal collective.

ARRANGEMENT & MUSICIANSHIP

VOCAL PROFILE

Tenor with a warm, textured tone, comfortable across tenor 2 and baritone ranges. Strong harmony singer with a highly developed ear for blend, tuning and phrasing, experienced across folk, roots, americana, pop, electronic, gospel and ensemble settings.
